Lazy Sunday, woke up.. at 7:15 am...lol

Continuation of Saturday, July 19th...

Hello! When I last left you guys, I went exploring around campus. I decided not to look for actual buildings that I made need to find for classes partly because I didn't know if my schedule was 100% set yet, and partly (read: mostly) because I was just too lazy for an actual scavenger hunt. Campus is really nice! Because I didn't use a map or anything I do not actually know how much of it I managed to cover, but it was beautiful! Actually, I'll say most of it was beautiful. There are some gorgeous nature parts and really pretty stone/marble/idk buildings but then there are also some very meh concrete normal-looking buildings. So it's pretty diverse, but I really like it. There's also a nice part with a pharmacy and some cafes and a convenience store, which is really...convenient (haha see what I did there?) but yeah it's all pretty nice.

Just another chill courtyard on campus
I even found a part that very much reminded me of Holder Hall/Rocky (a part of Princeton University that is pretty much the go-to for photo shoots and stuff) and right as I was thinking that it kinda looked like Holder, except for a lack of wedding photo shoot happening, I LOOKED UP AND THERE WAS A WEDDING PHOTO SHOOT HAPPENING!!!! it was unreal. But then I realized it was so awkward to take a picture of someone's wedding photos and the groom and his peeps were watching me, so I stealthily pretended that I was taking a panorama of the whole courtyard and did the whole pretend-to-hold-down-button-while-turning-in-a-circle thing, but then only really clicked the button once I was facing the bride and her peeps. So like, success.

Reminds me of Holder Hall at Princeton
Seriously, it's the Rocky of UQ, paparazzi and all
I then got kinda lost and just sorta walked around UQ...but then popped out right at the entrance of St. John's... so that was weirdly convenient and unexciting.
Outside St. John's College, duh
Okay OMG best part, get ready to die (in the best way possible).

Let me set the scene:

It's 6:30pm and getting dark and cold.

I am SO hungry and realize I haven't eaten since I got a 6 inch tuna sub from subway at 10:35 in the morning. I weighed my available options..."(option A:) should I go out and find food? (option B:) or should i just starve? (decision:) I should probably find food." Then I am like, "darn, its too cold and dark, i am not gonna make it."

So i decided I would try and order something online. I found a pizza place called Pizza Capers near by and found out they delivered and I rejoiced!!! I was SO happy!!

......but that's not where our story ends. As I was filling out the information to order a delicious looking pizza, I realized that in order to order it, I would need to give them a phone number...and unfortunately I had yet (still have yet) to get an Australian phone. Then I remembered that I had a skype account! and that my skype account had money on it! hallelujah, I praised the lord!

So then I called the place. Such a funny skype call. First of all, she wanted a phone number and I had to explain the whole I-don't-have-a-phone-yet-oh-but-yeah-you-think-we-are-talking-on-a-phone-but-no-this-is-me-calling-through-Skype situation. Then she broke the bad news that it was going to cost 12 extra dollars for delivery because all delivery orders need to be at least 25 dollars....

HAHAHA. fml.

So that's how I ended up ordering a pizza AND a calzone (which brought the order to $25.90). Finally after that hilarious (probably funniest of my life) skype call, I took a shower (again, amazing) and then waited outside for my Italian food. I was praying there weren't any delays because they had no way to reach me and thank god it came right on time!! Of course, the first thing that guy who delivered my food said was "Hey, you're the one who called on Skype!!" I was like "I don't wanna talk about it..." But like, honestly, no regrets.

Sunday, July 20th

Woke up....too early...couldn't fall back asleep.

Decided I needed caffeine and I wanted to try a new place so I went back to St. Lucia Village and went to Brick and Bean Cafe and tried their flat coffee. I won't go into details, but let's just say I totally forgot what it was called and made the barista dude go through all the types of coffee again. But anyway, then I walked around a bit and went to IGA (the super market) and bought some more oranges (SO GOOOOOD!!!). And, that's when I discovered drinkable, RESEALABLE, chobani yogurt. Okay maybe they make this stuff in the US, but I've never seen it before. It is straight up incredible. First of all, it tastes amazing, DUH, and second of all, IT'S RESEALABLE, which wasn't necessary for me, but still a nice touch that I respected. It was so convenient too. I didn't need a spoon and the mouthpiece was super sturdy. It was like a mash-up of a GoGurt and Caprisun, but for adults. I wonder if I can clean it out and use it as a (very tiny) water bottle. Regardless, overall I give it 10/10 stars.
Best invention ever: Chobani On The Go
Also I walked past the cricket courts again. I forgot to talk about cricket yesterday but wow, that is a strange sport. It's like golf and baseball combined. Maybe I didn't actually see people playing and they were just practicing hitting the ball but it was very cool. Anyway...nvm

Then I decided to go for a run and found a really nice trail that goes around the campus and along the river. Really pretty. Then I stretched and took a selfie, duh.
Stretchin' and Reppin' Charter (as always)
Then I ran into a girl who is also living in St. John's and she told me that the dining hall is actually open for us (I WISH I KNEW THAT LAST NIGHT.....) so we walked around and then went to get lunch. A guy we ate with told us all about the ettiquette expected inside of the Dining Hall. For example, if you want to refill your own water glass, you HAVE to ask the table if anyone would like water before pouring your own. Also, the tables are filled systematically and depending on where you are in line when entering the dining hall, so you always sit with new people if you didn't get in line with your friends. Also, no cell phones allowed at the table and if you are the second to last person to finish eating, you must wait with the last person at the table before getting up, so they are not left lone. It is interesting because these are all things that people SHOULD be doing just out of being polite and courteous, but it is cool that they are actually college rules. Oh, and in order to get dessert on Friday nights, you have to tell a joke. And if your joke is bad, then they won't give you dessert. LOL. WHAT. Amazing.

Remember me telling you about getting invited to tea at the Warden's Lodge? Well this afternoon, we all went to tea and it was so cute! The Warden and his wife made us tea/coffee and there were some sandwiches and biscuits. Good thing I worked out. It was really cute though, because it was just to give us all a chance to hang out and get to know them. They are a hilarious couple. The wife was so funny and telling us a lot of really ridiculous stories from when she was at university or just things that had happened since they've become the Warden+Wife of St. John's. They also gave us some college tips, such as not leaving door propped open (because of #theft) and not setting off the fire alarm because we will be charged $1200 for the alarm going off (but don't worry, that's only $1110.12 American dollars).

Also not sure if anyone's seen the movie Neighbors, but there are these birds that wake me up every morning at around 7 am and their "chirping" (more like screeching) sounds like they are calling "hooty whooo!" (the sound that the frat guys make to each other to signal when the police are about to bust their party) and I always panic that the police are here, but  they never are. It's even happening right now as I am writing this. Seriously, such a boy who cried wolf situation. These birds need to chill out.
